A number of pro-life groups have condemned Donald Trump's Wednesday remarks that women who get abortions should face punishment (if the procedure is made illegal). “Mr. Trump’s comment today is completely out of touch with the pro-life movement and even more with women who have chosen such a sad thing as abortion,” Jeanne Mancini, the president of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund said in a statement. Similarly, the Susan B. Anthony List wrote: “We have never advocated, in any context, for the punishment of women who undergo abortion... [L]et us be clear: punishment is solely for the abortionist who profits off of the destruction of one life and the grave wounding of another.” Penny Nance, the CEO of CWA Married, piled on too: "I'm just in shock," she said. "Nobody, nobody thinks it’s a good idea to imprison women for abortion." Trump contradicted himself entirely on the statement within an hour.
